Robert "Roy" Duncan, 86, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at CRMC.
Roy was born on July 24, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Pressley and Lillian (Reed) Duncan. He grew up in Coffeyville where he received his high school education. He began working in Paper Delivery for the Coffeyville Journal, moving up to being a Press Foreman, he worked his way up to Production Manager until his retirement in 1981.
On November 21, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas he married the love of his life, Maxine Nitcher. The couple made Coffeyville their home. After retirement, Roy worked as a Supervisor for Acme Foundry and then at Stephens Vending as a Route Man. Roy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon and an Elder, Coffeyville Shriners Club, Shrine Cycle Patrol and served on the Board for the aviation Museum. He enjoyed airplanes, stock-car racing, boating, golf, bowling and yard work. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of the home; daughters, Nancy Jo Simmons and husband, Larry of Clearwater, Florida, Carol Ann Stephens and husband, Kyle of Coffeyville, Kansas, Peggy Jean Lewman and husband, Greg of Coffeyville, Kansas, Patti Porter and husband, Tom of Coffeyville, Kansas; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Duncan of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Barbara Baltzell of Hays, Kansas, Beverly Tunstall and husband, John of Coffeyville, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pressley and Lillian.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Diane Massey will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with family receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Shiner's Children's Hospital; these may also be left with the funeral home.
