Ruby Lee Beeson-Medley at the of age 102 passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas with her family by her side.
Ruby was born on December 8, 1918, in Coffeyville, to William W. and Annie May (Joplin) Lowrance. As a young girl, Ruby and her family moved to Lockesburg, Arkansas. She attended school there until the age of 14 when the family moved back to Coffeyville in 1932. Ruby graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1937.
After high school she started working for the Kansas Employment Office until 1939, when she married a dashing young man, Martin V. Beeson on December 16, 1939. The couple made their home in Coffeyville, and of that union two children were born, Linda and Bob. Martin preceded her in death in 1982.
Ruby allowed herself to find love again and married Walter Medley on November 5, 1983, and they shared almost 15 years together before his passing in 1998.
Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruby’s children reminisce about wonderful memories of their mother caring for them only as a mother can. About the days of her volunteering at school, church youth group and spending quality time with them. Her grandchildren have priceless memories of Grandma making her famous Marbled Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing when they came to visit; or the Turkey Based Dressing she prepared for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. They will never forget the beautiful “Old Fashioned Christmas” decorations that she had in her home; memories of those ornaments are more cherished than any newly adorned ornaments ever could. Ruby was always very active well up into her late 90’s, she attended sporting events, performances, college graduations, and wedding of her grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday always making each grandchild and great grandchild feel loved.
