Ruby Lee Davis, 85, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center of Coffeyville, Kansas. Ruby was born on June 10, 1923 in Attalla, Alabama, the daughter of Ralph and Arrie Yother Nunn. She graduated from Sardis High School and attended Snead Junior College in Boaz, Alabama until she joined the WWII effort by making chemical warfare masks in Gadsden, Alabama. It was there that she met Grigsby Davis and they were married on June 2, 1945 in Gadsden. In 1947, they moved to South Coffeyville, Oklahoma where they took over operation of the family farm. Ruby was employed by Continental Can, Junge Bakery, McCoy Pallets, and Automotive Controls Operation. She was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church for over 50 years. She is survived by three children, Conn Davis, Mike Jane Davis, and Stacy Bill Pratt; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jimmie Hayes and Peggy Bearden and one brother, Bobby Nunn. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Grigsby in 1995, her parents, and one brother, Orbie Nunn. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church 2nd and Spruce, Coffeyville, Kansas, with Pastor Wayne Martin, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may sign Mrs. Davis guest register from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home, 2405 Woodland Avenue, Coffeyville, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are given to Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church or to the RadiationOncology Building Project at CRMC in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
