Ruth Elzade Banzet 1916 2007 Coffeyville resident, Ruth Banzet, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 10, 2007 in Coffeyville. She was 90 years old. She was born May 24, 1916 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma to William Wilshire McCorkle and Lula Belle Williams McCorkle. Ruth was a graduate of Miami High School, Miami, Oklahoma. She then received her Bachelors Degree in Teaching from the Northeastern State University of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mrs. Banzet taught school in Grant Mound in Craig County, Oklahoma in a one room school house where she walked to school everyday. She also taught in Ellis School District, Angola School District and she retired from USD 506 Edna, Kansas in 1982. On March 20, 1942 she married Verl Banzet at Miami, Oklahoma. They later
orced. Survivors include her son Tony Banzet of Edna, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Verl, one son, Virgil Banzet, one sister, Edith Jolley and one brother, Clarence McCorkle. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, fishing and bee keeping. Calling hoursvisitation: Mrs. Banzet will lie in state on Monday, May 14, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 at the Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., May 15, 2007 at the Lake Creek Cemetery, Bartlett, Kansas with Pastor J.E. Reynolds of the First Christian Church of Coffeyville, Kansas.
