Ruth A. Collier, 95, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2010 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Ruth was born September 20, 1914 in Liberty, Kansas to Jess and Ticie Shank Slaton. She grew up in the area attending Round Prairie School and received her high school diploma from Field Kindley High School, as a member of the class of 1932. On September 16, 1945 she was united in marriage to Frank A. Collier in Coffeyville, Kansas. Ruth worked on an assembly line for Funk Brothers for six years, Continental Can for ten years and ACC until her retirement in the mid 1970s. She was a lifelong member of the Coffeyville area and member of the Coffeyville First Christian Church. Ruth enjoyed quilting, sewing, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and collecting stamps. She was a former member of the Coffeyville Stamp Club. Survivors include two sons, Louis Collier and his wife, Geraldine of Coffeyville and Gerry Harding and his wife, Debi of Nicaragua three grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents by her husband, Frank, on November 21, 2000 by one brother, Harold Slaton by two sisters, Eloise Howard and Betty Wagonner and by one grandson, Rod Harding. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Kansas. Pastor Bill Booe will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Friends who wish may give to Harry Hynes Hospice and donations may be left at the funeral home.
