Ruth Dickens

Mary Ruth Dickens, 93, of Galveston, Texas died on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at The Meridian Care Center in Galveston.

Ruth was born on December 18, 1920 in Dearing, Kansas to James and Lillie Mae Hertweck Pursley. She grew up in the Coffeyville area where she received her high school education. Ruth also earned her Associate Degree. She owned and operated her own upholstery and drape fabrication business.

On November 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John E. Dickens in Glendale, California. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. John preceded her in death on November 25, 1982. Ruth enjoyed the time she spent with her family as well as taking care of her family and friends.

Surviving to honor her memory is her son, Tom Dickens of Galveston, Texas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, John H. Dickens on February 28, 2001.

Funeral arrangements are provided by FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Committal will take place on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas

Friends may call on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at FordWulfBruns Chapel to sign the guest register.
