Ruth Louise Nipper age 84, of Coffeyville, passed away on January 8, 2017 at Montgomery Place in Independence.
Ruth was born in Tyro on October 30, 1932 to Gilbert Howard and Lillie Mae (Adams) Clark. Ruth attended elementary school in Wann, OK and graduated from Field Kindley High School, she received her associate's degree from Coffeyville Community College, a bachelor's master's degree in education from Pittsburg State University. Ruth was united in marriage to Art Wheeler on October 19, 1951, he preceded her in death in 1964. She later met and married Jack Nipper Sr. on July 12, 1968, he preceded her in 2004. Ruth began her teaching career at The Ringo School in 1956, there she had 26 students in first through eighth grades in the one room school. She then went to Clymore School for three years, then 13 years at Cedar Bluff School, and retiring after 37 years of devoted service from Garfield Elementary.
Ruth was a charter member of the Westside Christian Church, where she was a member of the church choir, she also sang religious music with an area trio. Alpha Pi Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, Rebecca Lodge 258, NEA, and Coffeyville NEA. Ruth and Jack enjoyed camping at Grand Lake and they were members of Pine Island, they loved attending concerts, and their pets. She especially enjoyed her family, Ruth loved family get-togethers. Ruth also had a special place in her heart for all of "her" children that she taught over the years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her Nieces, Donna Cease of Tyro, Dana Wade of Tyro, Debbie Nielsen her husband Steve of Copan, OK, nephew, Dave Moyer, his wife Rebecca of Tyro, stepson Lewis Jackson Nipper Jr. of Coffeyville, stepson-in-law, Larry Maricle of Vinton, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Art and Jack, sisters, Jeanee Golden, Lucille Knopp, and Maxine Moyer, and three infant brothers, nephews, Danny Moyer, Clark Lynn Golden and niece Anna Mae Stevenson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Westside Christian Church at 1:00pm with Pastor Mike Elrod officiating, interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Coffeyville Relay for Life and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave Coffeyville, KS 67337.
