Samuel King Jack 1910 - 2005 Samuel King Jack, age 94, longtime Valeda, Kansas resident passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Medical Lodge of Coffeyville. He was born on October 12, 1910 in Caney, Kansas to Samuel King and Martha Clayton Jack. He attended school at Pleasant Hill near Caney. He moved with his parents to Texas when he was 14, and there he attended McAllen High School, McAllen, Texas. While in Texas he was a member of the Texas National Guard. He received the sharp shooters medal while attending Texas National Guard. He then later moved to Valeda. On December 24, 1929 he married Wintress Lucille Woollard at Oswego, Kansas. The couple lived in Wichita, where he attended Wichita Aeronautical College. They then moved to Pharr, Texas for a short time before making their home in Valeda. Mr. Jacks employment includes Funk Manufacturing, Jensen Manufacturing, Co-Op Elevator of Edna, Farm Hand, Continental Can Company, Janitor at Labette County High School and OK Electric. Memberships include the Valeda United Methodist Church. Mr. Jack enjoyed riding his bicycle he was an avid rider up to the age of 90, camping, reading and most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by 5 sons: Bob Jack and wife Phyllis of Shell Knob, Missouri Phillip Jack and wife Barbara of Joplin, Missouri Wendell Jack and wife Mary of Haysville, Kansas Bill Jack and wife Linda of Owasso, Oklahoma Donnie Joe Jack and wife Evelyn of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma 2 daughters: Lucille Straub and husband Martin of Claremore, Oklahoma Connie Plowman and husband Dwayne of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma 21 Grandchildren; 47 Great grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren; several step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: Parents, his wife Wintress Lucille Jack on January 24, 2003; one son, Ronnie Jack, two great-grandchildren, Travis and Elizabeth; two daughter-in-laws, Momie and Dee; three brothers, Ray, Roy and Ralph, one half- sister, Mae Sanders. Calling Hours Visitation time: Family and friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., October 9, 2005. Family will receive friends on Sunday evening, October 9, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Monday, 10: a.m., October 10, 2005 at the Valeda United Methodist Church, Valeda, Kansas. Reverend Bill Bath of Pleasant View Church of God will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Cemetery North of Angola, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry Hynes Hospice, Labette County or Valeda United Methodist Church co Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
