Obituary Sarah Jane Rockwell-Tongier Sadie Coffeyville resident Sarah Jane Tongier died on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in Coffeyville. She was 88. Sarah was born May 24, 1918 in Searcy, Arkansas to Bradley and Nettie Owen Morris. She grew up and attended High School in Coffeyville. Later she was known as Rosie The Riviter because she worked on aircraft assembly during the war. She later retired from Continental Can Co. She Married Hayden Rockwell on August 29, 1942 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. In 2004 she married Paul Tongier and he also preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Joy-Bykota Sunday School Class, Church Missionary Circle and Repaso Monderno Book Club. She taught numerous youth and childrens Sunday School Classes. Sadie enjoyed yard working with flowers and just working in the yard. She loved to talk and enjoyed being around people. She would always take time to visit with everyone. She was very active in the Coffeyville Senior Citizens Activity Center. Playing cards was one of her hobbies. Sadie loved square dancing. She was a very optimistic person, always viewing the glass as half-full. Sadie is survived by a sister Mary Christine Rongey of Coffeyville, and a grandson Kirby Barret-Rockwell of Corpus Christi, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Including her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son Roger Allen Rockwell, a brother Bradley Morris Jr and a sister Mildred Wright. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 2, 2007 in the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel in Coffeyville. Dr. Wayne Norton of the First Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9 am until 9 pm at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church orThe Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
