Shirley A. Imoe age 83 of Coffeyville, passed away on October 11, 2017 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Shirley was born in Tulsa, OK on September 26, 1934 to John Henry and Mable Irene (Murphey) Thurman. She attended grammar school and Lowell High School in Tulsa. After high school she enlisted in the United States Navy on October 13, 1952. After being honorably discharged, she returned home where she was united in marriage to Garnet L Joseph on April 23, 1955 he preceded her in death in 1975. The couple was blessed with a son and daughter. Shirley left the workforce to stay at home and care for her children which she adored. Shirley met Bob Imoe and the couple was married on Valentine's Day in 1986, in Paris, TX. Shirley enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and some of her favorites were casinos, traveling, and her grandchildren. Bob and she traveled most of the United States. When she wasn't traveling with Bob she recruited her sisters to take a trip with her, traveling was her passion. Laughlin, Nevada was her all-time favorite destination and was lucky enough to travel there within this past year with Bob. When they were not traveling, Bob and Shirley were the caretakers at Shell Lake in Sand Springs, OK and Havana Lake.
Shirley's memories will live on with her husband, Bob Imoe, son David Joseph his wife Laura, sisters, Barbara Fouts her husband Keith and Janice West, grandchildren, Matt Joseph and Brandon Joseph, step-grandchildren, Lori, Stephen, and Melissa, great-grandchildren, Megan Martin and Wyatt Martin and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
She now rests with her parents, husband Garnet, daughter Cathy Hagebusch, brothers H. T. Thurman, Ronald Thurman, and Darrell Thurman, sisters, Kathern O'dell, Pauline Wilson, Betty Fix, Norma June Stringfellow, and 3 infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Floral Heaven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK at 3:00pm. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Chapel from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The family suggests memorials be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be sent in care of the Chapel.
