Steven M. Walker at the age of 72 left this earthly home unexpectedly at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center on June 21, 2019.
Steven was born on January 19, 1947 to Estel and Wanda (Roller) Walker in South Gate, California. Steve's family moved back to Coffeyville and Parsons area. He spent the majority of his lifetime in the Coffeyville area, attending Coffeyville Schools and completing his education at Field Kindley Memorial High School. On February 16, 1966 he was inducted into the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge on January 29, 1968 then completing his term from the reserves on February 15, 1972. Steve loved everything about America and had great pride in serving his county. He was Red, White and Blue through and through.
Upon returning from his service to the US Army he met Laura McCartney and soon after they were married in her parents' home. Then making their home in Coffeyville area for 51 years. Together they enjoyed going to auctions, refreshing their booths at the area flea markets but most of all they shared a love for their daughter, Stacy and her children.
Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with things, especially tools. He would find the diamonds in the rough at auctions take them home and apply some elbow grease and clean those tools up to look almost brand new. Allowing someone else to put them to use. What he enjoyed most about his hobbies is that it allowed him to have personal interaction with people and forming lasting friendships with those he met at auctions, flea markets, or swapping fishing stories while casting a line. Steve was a Red Raven's fan enjoyed keeping up with their standings in multiple sports. He also enjoyed in setting down to a good meal with his family and friends. Where Steve enjoyed his hobbies and friends nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, Laura, daughter Stacy or his grandsons, Dakotah, Casey or Cody. He was always supportive and right by their side cheering them on in anything they participated in. His family was everything to him.
His loving wife, Laura survives the home, daughter, Stacy Isle and grandchildren, Dakotah Walker and fiancé Amy Matney, Casey Isle, Cody Isle and wife Julia and sister, Becky and husband Gary Fulkerson are all heavy hearted for the loss of a great man. Granddaughter Alishia and his parents Estel and Wanda have preceded him in death.
