Theodore W.Tate Grasz, 91, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Medicalodge in Dewey, Oklahoma. He was born October 29, 1917 in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Charles M. Grasz and Elizabeth Lampe Grasz. Theodore grew up on his parents farm five miles northwest of Lenapah and attended school at District 19, better known as Crowholler. He was never married. Mr. Grasz entered the service on January 8, 1941 and trained with the 45th Division of Company E at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was also stationed at Abilene, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Massachusetts, New York, Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Virginia. On December 23, 1944 he was honorably discharged from Walter Reed General hospital as a result of disabilities incurred during service. Following his time in the service, Theodore worked for the Harvey Livestock Truck Company, Allen Brothers Truck Line, Muller Construction Company and he retired from the Kansas Department of Revenue in April of 1979. He was a member of the American Legion for fifty years and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans KAPE Trench Rats. His military service featured contact with Eleanor Roosevelt and Lord and Lady Halifax of Britain. Theodore was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include a sister-in-law Mrs. E.G. Grasz of Guthrie, Oklahoma, nephews and nieces: Joyce Hicks and husband Charles of South Coffeyville, J.C. Ramey and wife Marilyn of Dewey, Oklahoma, Juanita Anderson of Santa Maria, California, Don Grasz of Elkhart, Kansas, Shirley Crosley of Thornton, Colorado, Barbara Procysyn of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Peggy Pierce of Chatham, Virginia, Doris Nelson of Guthrie and Don Coppock of Fritch, Texas.
