Thurman Jerald Medsker, age 79, of Tyro, Kansas, stepped into Heaven on August 8, 2024, two days before his 80th birthday.
Jerald was born August 10, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Thurman “Salty” Medsker and Margaret Marie (Bendure) Medsker. Jerald grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and attended Field Kindley High School and graduated in 1962. He graduated with an associate’s degree from Coffeyville Community College in 1964.
He met the love of his life, Georgia Adkins, in high school, and they married September 11, 1964. Jerald worked as an auto mechanic, draftsman, and painted houses with his dad. In 1972 he began working at Cooperative Refinery and retired as a Maintenance Inspector in 2007. After retirement, Jerald and Georgia enjoyed traveling, hanging out with their wonderful children and grandchildren, spending time with friends, and holding Bible studies in their home.
Jerald served as an Elder at Tyro Christian Church for at least 20 years and taught an adult Sunday school class for 30 years. He enjoyed teaching and Bible study. Later, he and Georgia taught Marriage Classes and mentored several young couples. He was a hard worker and gave 110 percent to everything he did. He taught his children that “If anything was worth doing, do it right!” He loved woodworking and designed and helped build the home that he and Georgia resided in located south of Tyro. He also loved hunting, fishing, golfing and his family, but most of all, he loved Georgia and ice cream!
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Jack and Mary Adkins, brother Samuel Kent Medsker, Brother-in-law, Norman Newsom, and son Craig Jerald Medsker.
