TommileneTommie Braschler Thorpe, 73, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Tommie was born May 3, 1937 at Coffeyville to Albert L. Braschler and Marguerite Myers Braschler. She grew up in Coffeyville, receiving her education there and graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1955. Tommie also attended Rolla School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri. On August 17, 1974, at Coffeyville, Tommie was united in marriage to Ron Thorpe. She was employed by Braschler House of Beauty, John Deere Funk Manufacturing and the Printing Center. Tommie was a member of VFW Post 1022 Womens Auxiliary and was the current president. She was past secretary of the Womens Bowling League. Tommie loved to work in the yard, especially gardening. She enjoyed needlepoint and loved her two dogs, Mandy and Scruffy. Survivors are her husband, Ronald D. Thorpe of the home one stepdaughter, Dana Connor and her husband, Todd of Charlotte, North Carolina stepgrandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter Connor of Charlotte two brothers, Leon L. Braschler and his wife, JoAnn and Steve A. Braschler, all of Coffeyville two nephews, Jeff Braschler and his wife, Melody of Coffeyville and Mike Braschler and his wife, Dottie of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma a special friend, Michael Szelipajlo of Coffeyville other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Billy Joe Braschler. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Interment will be in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Viewing and visitation will be Monday, noon 8 p.m. Those who wish may make donations to the ASPCA in Tommies memory and donations may be left at the funeral home.
