Velma Jeane Allen, 85, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Jeane will lay in state on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 12:00 Noon 7:00 p.m., at Penwell Gabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6:00 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Lee Passwater officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Jeane was born April 1, 1926 to Larue Cole and Luella Hall Cole in south Coffeyville, Oklahoma. She attended Snow Creek School and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1944. Following graduation, she attended Coffeyville JR. College receiving her degree in business in 1947. After finishing school, she married her husband Marion Allen on February 23, 1947. During her time while attending college, she was employed with Squaw Transit Company from 19441954 as a bookkeeper, until they were bought out by CH Trucking. She continued her employment with them as a payroll clerk until 1957. The couple then bought a 160 acre farm when she quit her job to help her husband on the farm. Jeane was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Marion of the home a half brother, Charles and wife Marilyn Smith, Nowata, OK and a half sister, Betty Corona, Dallas, TX. Jeane is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as treasure for the church for over 35 years. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church.
