Velma May Workman, 75, Coffeyville resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday morning, January 24, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Velma was born October 31, 1933 at Coffeyville to Richard Aquilla Timmerman and Ethel Mae Scott Timmerman. She grew up in Coffeyville and received her education there. Her first husband was Walter L. Bond and to this union a daughter, Glenna was born. In 1958, she married Glenn I. Kemmerer, Sr., and the couple had a son, Glenn, Jr. Mr. Kemmerer preceded his wife in 1961. Velma later married Grover R. Workman and three children were born into this union, David Eugene, Susan and Thomas. Velma worked for Emerson Electric and Funk Manufacturing, in Quality Control and other capacities on the assembly line. She later was employed by Medical Lodge West, where she retired. Velma was persistent in her education and pursued her GED and attained it, along with her Machinist Certificate for completing the course at McFarland Trade School. She was of the Christian faith and a resident of Coffeyville all her life, but had moved to Cherryvale for years ago to be near family. Mrs. Workman is survived by five children, Glenna Caviness and her husband, Chester of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Glenn Kemmerer, Jr. of Coffeyville, Susan Mustonen and her husband, Wayne of Lenapah, Oklahoma and Thomas Workman and his wife, LeeAnn of Cherryvale, Kansas; one brother, Floyd Timmerman of Lenapah; a sister, Freda Hickman of Scranton, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Heather Liechti, Kimberly Caviness, Crystal Scott and Samantha Mustonen and three great-grandsons, Corey and Alex Leichti and Mason Hargett. She was preceded in death by her parents; by two husbands; by a son, David Eugene Workman and a grandson, Johnathan Thomas Workman. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Friday, January 30, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyvilles Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday, 9AM-8PM and family will receive friends from 6-8PM. The family suggests that friends who wish may contribute to Montgomery County Community Clinic MC3 in care of the funeral home.
