Verda Pogue

Verda Alene Pogue 1932 - 2005 Verda Alene Pogue, 73, of Olathe, Kansas formerly of Coffeyville, passed away early Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Mrs. Pogue was born September 5, 1932 in Tyro, Kansas to Arthur W. Denny and Verda Hoetz Denny. Alene married J.E. Pogue on August 10, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado . Following Mr. Pogue39;s retirement in 1988 they moved to Coffeyville. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1996. She taught at public schools in both Kansas and Missouri, for over 40 years. Mrs. Pogue worked for Coffeyville USD 445 from 1989 to 1992. She was an active civic volunteer in Coffeyville, until she moved to Olathe in 2004. Mrs. Pogue was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville. She is survived by her mother, Verda Denny of Coffeyville. Daughter, Beverly Pogue of Independence, MO, 3 Sons: Denny Pogue of St. James, MO; Russell Pogue of Henderson, KY; Charles Pogue of Olathe, KS, 2 Sisters: Lois Testerman of Dearing, KS; Helen Carroll of Edmond, OK, a Brother; Gene Denny of Independence, KS and 10 Grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 1pm-8pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2005 and from 8am until service time on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the Funeral Home. There will be a Memorial Service held at 1pm, Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Reverend Rich Jenkins will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Fawn Creek Cemetery in lieu of flowers co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
