Vernon Rush

Coffeyville resident Vernon Dee Rush entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 19, 2007 in Coffeyville after a year long battle with cancer. He was 84. Dee was born June 18, 1923 in Ketchum, Oklahoma to Vernon Ralph and Iva D. Boswell Rush. He grew up and attended schools in Ketchum and later graduated from Oilton School. He married Nellie Arnold on June 18, 1970 they later
orced. He drove a taxi cab in the city of Coffeyville for 21 years. He retired in 1980 from the USD 445 school district where he worked as a custodian. He lived in Coffeyville for forty plus years and had many friends. No one was a stranger to him. Dee enjoyed Red Ravens Football and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his daughter Iva and husband Dennis Buchanan, Jr. of Anderson, Missouri; sisters, Mildred Colberg and Marie Rice both of Tulsa and a brother Donald Walling. Dee was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Rush and a brother. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel. Ernest Wilson will officiate and burial will follow in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 9 am until 9 pm at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm. Memorials may be made to Coffeyville Community College. These may be left with the funeral home.
