Virgil Scott, 97, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Medicalodge in Coffeyville. Virgil was born on October 15, 1913 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Francis and Effie Fulton Scott. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended local schools. On May 29, 1933 he was united in marriage to Lois Truax. Lois preceded him in death in 1981. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. Virgil worked in the oil and gas industry at CoOp Refinery as a pipefitter for over 35 years. Virgil married Charlotte ScottSchmidt in 1982 the couple later divorced after several years and they remained good friends. He enjoyed square dancing and was an active square dance caller in the Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma areas for years. He also enjoyed listening to baseball games on the radio and never missed a Detroit Tigers game. He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Coffeyville. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family and friends. Virgil is survived by his sons, Frank Scott and wife, Dottie of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Bill Scott and wife Annie of Indianapolis, Indiana daughter, Patti Maples of Coffeyville, Kansas seven grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren and greatgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Effie loving wife, Lois five brothers and seven sisters. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
