Virginia Barker

Virginia Lee Barker, 93, of Justin, Texas, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 in Justin, Texas. Virginia was born September 18, 1915 in Canada Township, Labette County, Kansas, the daughter of George and Flora Traxson. She graduated from Coffeyville in 1934. She married Hubert R. Barker in 1934 in Nowata, Oklahoma. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Houston, Texas. Virginia was an avid bowler and artist. Surviving to honor her memory is her daughter, Virginia Lynn Beekman and husband, Joe of Gary, Texas; grandson, Stephen Beekman and wife, Lisa of Grand Prairie, Texas; granddaughter, Lori Dibble and husband, Daniel of Corinth, Texas, great-granddaughters, Addison and Libby Beekman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, her parents, and brother, George Traxson. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabels Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimers Association or to the American Cancer Society in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
