Virginia A. Bartz of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her home in Coffeyville. She was 64. Virginia was born July 31, 1944 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Oliver and Zella Rutter. She attended Independence schools, graduating in 1963. She went on to complete a course degree with I.B.M. in Kansas City, Missouri in 1965. In July of 1969 she was united in marriage to Ray Vogt the couple later
orced. On August 30, 1981 she was united in marriage to Roger Bartz the couple later
orced. Virginia was a cake decorator at the Homeland bakery in Independence, she later was employed by Wal-Mart until her retirement in 1994. She was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Theta Theta Sorority and the American Legion Post 1022. Surviving to honor her memory is a brother, Larry and Sue Rutter of Independence, KS; nieces, Melissa Sullivan of Ulysses, KS, Sheila Kalwei of Excelsor Springs, MO; special friends, Bill and Debbie Giger of Oswego, KS, Pam and Kimber Goodnight, Michelle Landes, Missy Reyes, Wes Myers, and many special caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2009 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. An inurnment will take place at Tannehill Cemetery outside of Arkansas City, Kansas at approximately 2:30 p.m. Donations to Holy Name Catholic Church in memory of Virginia may be left at Penwell -Gabel Funeral Home.
