Walter David Dave Wright, 79, Coffeyville, passed away early Saturday, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Dave was born September 18, 1926, in Barton County, Missouri, the son of Joseph Elmer and Olive Myrtle Lakin Wright. He has lived in Coffeyville since 1950. He married Leona Carter May 10, 1946, in Bellingham, Washington. She passed away August 2, 1992. Dave worked as an installer and repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years. He retired in 1985. He was a Navy Veteran having served in World War II. Dave belonged to VFW Post 1022 in Coffeyville, Telephone Pioneers, CWA Local 6410 and the U.S. Steamer Bay Association. Survivors include: 1 Daughter Linda Johnson Caddo Mills, Texas 2 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife and one son Paul Joseph Wright. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Wright will lie in state from 1-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gideons Association and left in care of the funeral home.
