Wanda Elaine Elder, 85, Coffeyville, Kansas, died early Thursday morning, February 4, 2010 at Windsor Place Care Center. Wanda was born August 7, 1924 at Toledo, Ohio to Albert Phillips and Ethel Marie Lybarger Phillips. She grew up in Toledo and graduated high school, there. Wanda met Donald Elder, while he was stationed in Toledo for his military service. The couple married in 1942 at Blackwell, Oklahoma and continued to live there for a short time, before moving to Coffeyville in 1945. Mr. Elder preceded his wife in death in 1993. Wanda was all about her family, enjoying her children and grandchildren. She also loved poetry and several of her own poems had been published. Wanda was a member of Coffeyvilles Bible Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher there for almost 30 years. Survivors include five children, Deanna Fain and her husband, Don of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jane Dougan and her husband, Dan of Coffeyville, Patty Chinsethagid and her husband, Mattee of Tulsa, Steve Elder and his wife, Becky of Coffeyville and Lisa Elder of Tulsa 22 grandchildren 24 greatgrandchildren other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband by a daughter, Elaine Russell and by two brothers, Robert and Donald Phillips. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2010 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Pastor Daniel Knight officiating. Interment will be in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 15 p.m. and Wandas family will receive guests from 35.
