Wayne C. Long 1924 - 2006 Wayne C. Long, age 81, rural Coffeyville, Kansas resident entered into rest on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. Wayne was born December 13, 1924 in Rural Coffeyville, Kansas to Benjamin J. and Donna R. Purdy Long. He was a 1942 graduate of Field Kindley Memorial High School. He was United States Air Force WWII Veteran in the European Theatre. On December 29, 1946 he married Vera Lou Holt in Coffeyville, Kansas at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church. Mrs. Long survives of the home. Survivors include his wife, Vera Lou Long, Coffeyville, Ks. 3 daughters, Janie Kaye Spear, Dave, Kingsport, Tn.; Joy Ann Turner, Bart, Andover, Ks.; Janet Sue Rodriguez, Frank, Mulvane, Ks. 9 grandchildren, 1 niece and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Myron Long. He was a US Postal Service employee for more tha 32 years in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a General Secretary for the Sunday School, VFW Post 1022, D.A.V., National Association of Letter Carriers. VisitationCalling Hours: Mr. Long will lie in state on Friday, May 26, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Martin presiding. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, Ks. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church.
