Willard Leroy Everett, 93, of Coffeyville, passed away early Friday morning, November 21, 2008 at Cherryvale Care Center, Cherryvale, Kansas. Willard was born January 10, 1915 at Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Alfred and Nellie Grimes Everett. Grew up in Bentonville, Arkansas and later moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas. He moved to Denver, Colorado, where he met and later married, Marjorie Marge Rydlund on July 6, 1937. The couple had a six week courtship that resulted in more than 61 years of marriage. The Everetts moved to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1942 and lived there for all but two years of their remaining lives. The couple lived in Texas for those two years. Willard drove a gasoline truck for Hugh Breeding of Baxter Springs for several years and then for Kessler Oil Company until his retirement in 1987. Willard is survived by two daughters, Sharon Laxson and her husband, Roy of Midland, Texas and Gaylene Robbins and her husband, Jim; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Marge, in March 1999. Graveside services for Willard Everett will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2008 at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Graham, officiating. Service and interment are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel of Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5 p.m., Sunday and Mr. Everetts family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Family suggests that friends who wish may donate to Harry Hynes Hospice in care of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
