William Allcorn

William Harold Allcorn of Coffeyville, Kansas died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in Coffeyville. He was 93. Harold was born on March 16, 1914, the son of William Harold and Edith Alice Chesney Allcorn. He attended Field Kindley High School, graduating in 1933. He went to work for his father at Haney-Allcorn Mercantile. In 1939 he married Bessie Murdock. He was employed by the National Refinery Coop for 34 years, retiring in 1976. Harold spent his retirement years hunting, fishing and doing taxidermy for friends. He was baptized in 1926 at the First Christian Church and has been a lifetime member. He belonged to the National Rifle Association and Coffeyville Gun Club for skeet shooting. He enjoyed growing flowers in later years and always used his good sense of humor in all things. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Sue Ruffino, of the home; three granddaughters, Cari Elizabeth Ruffino of Honolulu, Hawaii, Megan Christine Waldo and Toni Suzanne Ruffino, both of Jacksonville, Florida; one great-grandson, Anthony Roeun of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie; brother, Jack Allcorn and sister, Helen Wellington. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel in Coffeyville. Reverend Gerald Morris of the Grace Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church. These may be left with the funeral home.
