Coffeyville resident WilliamDavid Cornett passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 in Huntsville, Alabama as a result of a traffic accident. He was 59. David was born October 20, 1949 in Coffeyville, Kansas to William Chester and Elsie Mae Oder Cornett. He grew up in Coffeyville schools until he enlisted in the military in 1968. He served in Vietnam, was also stationed in Germany and Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged in 1978. He then met and married Melinda Racer in 1979 the couple made their home in Orting, Washington she preceded him in death September 17, 2004. David enjoyed making teddy bears from leather and fur coats, and enjoyed time with his family. He is survived by his brothers, Roger Linda Cornett, Skiatook, Oklahoma, Randy and Tony Cornett of Coffeyville, Kansas; sisters, Pat Jerry Upton of Coffeyville, Mary Paul Himmelreich of Garland, Texas, Donna Doug Payden of Coffeyville; numerous nieces and nephews and a special uncle Steve Cornett of Tyro, Kansas. He was also preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Veterans Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Rev. Paul Himmelreich will officiate. Friends may call on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to sign the guest register at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Alcoholics Anonymous in care of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
