Willie Mae Beason of Coffeyville, Kansas died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was 106 years old. Willie Mae was born May 18, 1902 in Haysville, Louisiana to Ida Mae Charles and Richard Martin. She had three siblings, William, Beulah and Lizzy. She attended rural school in Louisiana. On May 6, 1922, she married Gus Brown in Idabel, Oklahoma. The couple had three sons, Charles, Albert and Willie C. Brown. She later married John Beason in Independence, Kansas. At one time she was employed at the Continental Can Company and then worked as a housekeeper and cook in California for twenty years. She was a member of the Bethel A. M. E. Church where she enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir and ushering. Her survivors include two daughter-in-laws, Yular and Willie R. Brown; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and forty-nine great-great-grandchildren. Her three sons, Charles, Albert and Willie C. and four grandchildren preceded her in death. Services wil be held at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland, Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register.
