Wilma Jean Brinkman, 78, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2009 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born July 21, 1930 in Nowata County, Oklahoma to Charles Sutton and Florence Lybarger Sutton. On March 6, 1959 she married Marin Carl Nolte who preceded her in death on May 17, 1970. On May 18, 1973 she married Joe Brinkman. He survives. Wilma worked for nineteen years at Bliss Restaurant as a cook and she also worked on the family farm. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, embroidery and many outdoor activities. She was an Altar Society member at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Survivors include her sisters Rosalie Powers of Oklahoma City and Lenora Pryse in Nowata, a daughter LaUna Nolte of Lenapah, Oklahoma, grandson Chris Nolte and wife Myra, two great granddaughters Chelsea and Shantel, two special girls Angel Coker and Alexis Villanueva whom she took under her wing and called them her great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bill, Marvis and Floyd Sutton. Wilma will be greatly missed by numerous family and friends. A Funeral Mass for Wilma Jean Brinkman will be celebrated on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: 1033 Ambulance Team, 321 East Cherokee, Nowata, Oklahoma 74048. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements.
