Wilma C. Meitler passed away on April 5, 2019 at the age of 99 in Coffeyville, Kansas at Windsor Place.
Wilma was born on November 30, 1919 in Webber Falls, Oklahoma to Earnest and Zona (Archer) Bell. In 1926 Wilma and her family moved to Coffeyville where she started school and completed her education at Field Kindley Memorial High School. Wilma married Howard Robinett on October 8, 1940 in Benton, Arkansas, of that union two sons were born, Ernest and Gary. Wilma then shared over forty years with husband, Victor Meitler, of that union one son, Barry was born.
Wilma's passion for caring for others lead to a career of being a Certified Nurse's Aide and Med Aide. She worked for over 40 years in Greenwood and Linn County Kansas area in elder care facilities until her retirement on December 13, 1993. Not being satisfied with retirement Wilma started working in Home Health Care until her final retirement in 2001. Wanting to be near family she relocated to Coffeyville.
Wilma was a very private, self-sufficient woman. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church until her heath declined. Her family remembers that she always enjoyed visitors and long conversations. When visiting Wilma you never left hungry, she loved baking and always had a freshly baked treat to share, often times it was her famous pumpkin bread.
Wilma will be most remembered by 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, residence and staff of Windsor Place. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Ernest Robinett, Gary Robinett, and Barry Meitler; sister, Pauline Carter and Lorraine Nickel; brothers, Ralph Bell and Robert Bell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Chaplain, Keith Springer with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice will be officiating. She will be at rest next to her husband in Fairview Cemetery following the service.
